K-Pop Soloists IU, Taeyeon, Kyuhyun And Junsu Bring Vocal Competition This October

With so many musical acts in South Korea, there's new music every day. It's rare that some of the top K-pop idol vocalists go neck to neck with each, but that's happening right now.

This October, four of K-pop's most respected young vocal talents will go up against one another. Soloist IU, JYJ's XIA Junsu, Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, and Super Junior's Kyuhyun each have begun promotions for October solo releases.

Each of the four are highly respected in South Korea for their expressive vocal talent, and particularly known for their ballads and heartfelt songs.

Kim Taeyeon became the first Girls' Generation member to release her solo album, "I." Since the song came out, Taeyeon won awards on two weekly Korean music shows, "Show Champion" and "M! Countdown." Since her music video was released on Oct. 7, it has been viewed over 10 million times on YouTube.

Cho Kyuhyun of Super Junior, Taeyeon's label-mate at SM Entertainment, also made a comeback this month, with his album "Fall, Once Again" on Wednesday. The song for his title track, "A Million Pieces" appearing on Korean music charts immediately after being released.

While Kyuhyun and Taeyeon already released their albums in the first half of the month, two other popular K-pop vocalists have upcoming releases.

The pair's ex-lablemate, XIA Junsu of JYJ (and formerly of SM Entertainment heavyweight TVXQ) will release his mini album, "Yesterday," on the 19.

Meanwhile, Korea's vocal darling IU, who recently made headlines for confirming a two-year relationship with indie singer Jang Kiha, will release her album "Chat-Shire" on Oct. 23.
