Nina Dobrev revealed that she wanted to detach herself from the hit television series "The Vampire Diaries" after her split with ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder. The actress statement came as shedebuted her new look in a magazine.

Appearing on Who What Wear, the 26-year-old Bulgarian-Canadian actress said that she wanted to do "dark and gritty" projects in the future, Celebrity Dirty Laundry said in their report.

"I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the sh*t out of me," the actress said.

She also talked about her role in the movie "The Final Girls," saying, "It's something I hadn't seen or read before. We make fun of horror movies, break them down, and challenge the stereotypes."

Nina Dobrev's previous Instagram message to her fans about her exit in the hit vampire show, revealed that the actress wanted to end her character in season six.

"I always knew I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime. I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger," she said in a previous Instagram message.

"I got kidnapped, killed, resurrected, tortured, cursed, body-snatched, was dead and undead, and there's still so much more to come before the season finale in May."

Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev also debuted a new look in the magazine as she rocked her new fringe bangs, seemiblgy proving that she has moved on from her failed relationship with former co-star Ian Somerhalder.

Early this year, Nina Dobrev confirmed she's leaving "The Vampires Diaries," with rumors claiming the exit is a ploy for the actress to move on after her split with Ian Somerhalder. Her announcement also came months after "The Anomaly" actor confirmed he married Nikki Reed, Realty Today said in a report.

Last April, Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder tied the knot in an intimate ceremony after only eight months of dating.
