Winds Of Winter Release Date: George R.R. Martin Insists New Book Will Be Out Before Game Of Thrones Season 6

Winds Of Winter Release Date: George R.R. Martin wants to beat "Game of Thrones" season 6 with his next "A Song of Ice and Fire" book. According to multiple reports, George R.R. Martin's "Winds of Winter," the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, is expected to come out in 2016.

Martin told Entertainment Weekly, that he is determined for Winds of Winter to be released before Game of Thrones season 6. The Polish website Piesnloduiognia quoted the book's translator Michal Jakuszewski as hinting that he is already translating the book into Polish, which seems to mean that the English galleys of the next "A Song of Fire and Ice" book is done, according to yibada.

According to newseveryday, Martin hinted that "Winds of Winter is not yet done and that he was working on a werewolf book called "The Skin Trade" for Cinemax, which he passed off Kalinda Vazquez for the screenplay so he could, ostensibly, beat Game of Thrones to the finish line.

"Cinemax and my agents set me up for meetings with close to a dozen different TV writers, many of them very impressive, but Kalinda's take on the story and the characters blew me away," wrote to his blog," according to newseveryday.

"She loves the story and the world, and really seems to get Willie and Randi, and her pitch to Cinemax was one of the most polished and professional I've ever heard. I love her enthusiasm, and look forward to working with her. And no, while I would have loved to write the script and run the show myself myself, that was never really in the cards. I have this book to finish. You know the one."

Martin also teased some twists

"This is going to drive your readers crazy," Martin told Entertainment Weekly, "but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved... it all makes sense. But it's nothing I've ever thought of before. And it's nothing they can do in the show, because the show has already-on this particular character-made a couple decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions."

EW also broke that Martin is also developing a new series called Captain Cosmos for HBO.

"At the dawn of the age of TV in 1949, a visionary young writer creates a science fiction series that tells stories no one else will dare to tell," reads the pitch.

Martin told EW that he now wishes he started working on Winds of Winter sooner.

"I was red hot on the book and I put it aside for six months," Martin told EW.

"I was so into it. I was pushing so hard that I was writing very well. I should have just gone on from there, because I was so into it and it was moving so fast then. But I didn't because I had to switch gears into the editing phase and then the book tour. The iron does cool off, for me especially."
