K-Pop Destinations: Experience Europe In Asia At 'My Love From The Star' Filming Location

Welcome to 'K-pop Destinations,' the series that helps readers travel across the world. We'll show you where hit shows and videos are filmed, where top performers are giving concerts, or where your favorite stars take their vacations. That way, the next time you take a vacation, you can make sure to incorporate a little K-pop travel into your getaway.

It's time to get whisked away to another world: for the characters in "My Love From the Star," this tiny village truly was another dimension. And for people in Korea that want a bit of a European flair in Asia, the Petite France Village, with its colorful villas and French melodies filling the air, might as well be another world.

It's no surprise this picturesque village is a favorite location for K-drama filming. The village looks as if it could be nestled into the mountains of a Mediterranean ski town, and is an especially peaceful contrast to the futuristic skyscrapers and hustle of nearby Seoul.

The site has been featured in a few shows, including 'Beethoven Virus' and 'Secret Garden,' but it's probably best known from the popular 'My Love From the Star.' In one of the more romantic episodes of the series, the supernatural Do Min-jun uses his powers to kiss the pop star Cheon Song-yi.

Visitors can hop on one train and bus from Seoul and see the place for themselves. It's a great day trip, especially if you're interested in French culture. There is a restaurant and a café on site that allows visitors to indulge in some French cuisine.

K-drama fans don't have to search too hard for the Petite France's notorious filming sites. Like many filming sites throughout Korea, the places are clearly marked with signs that include memorabilia from filming, and fans are free to sit exactly where their favorite stars did and take photos.

Shoppers will also be happy here - there are several specialized boutiques carrying gift items, antiques, herbal products, clothing, children's gifts, and more.

Bringing along some kids? Don't worry about them being bored. There are a few puppet performances that delight children of all ages, craft stations where they can make plaster art in shapes like the Eiffel Tower, and several homages to popular children's characters like The Little Prince.

If you're interested, you can also spend the night at the Petite France resort for a bit of a European getaway without the expensive plane ticket.

All in all, Petite France promises a charming stroll through a peaceful village, a nice escape from Seoul, and a cool way to get behind the scenes of a K-drama. The only thing we can't promise is that the romance between Do Min-jun and Cheon Song-yi awaits you - that you're going to have to provide on your own.
