G-Dragon Sells 23,000 Tickets For Hong Kong Concerts In First Day: Big Bang Rapper Sells Out May 17 And 18 Shows In Hours

Fans of Big Bang rapper G-Dragon snatched up 23,000 tickets on Monday for his May 17 and May 18 concerts at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld Arena, promptly selling out both shows.

Concert promoters ELF ASIA called the G-Dragon shows the "most sought-after solo K-pop concert in Hong Kong!"

"We are delighted to see the overwhelming response to the first ever solo concert of G-Dragon in Hong Kong," said a representative from all three promoters ELF ASIA, JUNA INTERNATIONAL and LIVE NATION. "We are proud to be part of this marvelous project. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has shown G-Dragon and us support. G-Dragon will definitely bring the most superb concert experiences to Hong Kong!"

G-Dragon kicked off his 2013 "One of A Kind" world tour in Seoul back in March. He is currently on an eight-dome tour of Japan, performing for a combined total of over 360,000 fans.

The G-Dragon tour will then move to Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, in addition to the China shows.

"The G-Dragon concert now ends like this," he told the crowd at the Seoul show, in a candid onstage speech, according to allkpop. "I thank everyone who came out. I hope I get to see you again next year. I'm sad that the concert is over. Now my overseas concerts are waiting for me, and whenever I go overseas, my heart feels a little homesick. I think that all I can do is work hard. I ask for a lot of support, so I won't faint. A New Big Bang album is also planned to be released soon, so we will meet fans on stage in the near future. Please just wait a little bit longer."

"During the past four years, a lot has happened in my life," G-Dragon added. "Although I matured as an artist, I also took time to mature as a human being. I don't know what I'll be doing four years from now, but I want to continue doing music. I will continue to show a good image. I was so happy today. I hope that this concert remains in your memory for a long time."

The Big Bang rapper joined Psy onstage for his Seoul World Cup Stadium "happening" on Sunday.

He took to Twitter after the show to express support for his fellow K-pop star.

"Psy concert, #happening The End. Gr8 show today!!" G-Dragon wrote.
