'Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi' Anime Release Date Confirmed Alongside New Trailer [VIDEO]

If you happen to be a fan of darker anime series that are based on something critically acclaimed or off the beaten to death path of shonen, you're likely aware of Fuji TV's NoitaminA block, that brought about greats like "Psycho-Pass" and this season's "The Perfect Insider."

Today, NoitaminA revealed its plans to air the "Boku Dake ga Inai Machi" (or "The Town Where Only I am Missing") anime series during its 2015 winter lineup. The series is based on the manga by Kei Sanbe. Alongside the reveal of the winter release date, a trailer for the series was also revealed. So far, some fans are already predicting that it will become popular once it begins airing in the winter.

"This will be the dark horse of the winter season next year. I'm calling it now," said Stark700 on CR.

Crunchyroll reports that "Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi" will be directed by Tomohiko Ito with character designs by Keigo Sasaki. Taku Kishimoto will write the screenplay. A-1 Pictures will handle the animation production.

Currently, no Japanese voice cast has been announced for the series, but given that there will soon be a live-action movie version, perhaps some of those cast members will crossover to the anime. The 2016 "Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi" live action movie will star Tatsuya Fujiwara and Kasumi Arimura.

For those who are not familiar with the "Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi" manga series, Anime News Network describes the story as follows:

"Satoru Fujinuma is a struggling manga artist who has the ability to turn back time and prevent deaths. When his mother is killed he turns back time to solve the mystery, but ends up back in elementary school, just before the disappearance of his classmate Kayo."
