Nick Lachey Says Kim Kardashian Used Him To Get Famous, Gives Boy Band Of Today Dating Advice

Kim Kardashian is famous partly because he dated Nick Lachey, or at least that’s what the former singer wants to imply.

Nick Lachey wants everyone to know that he’s the reason why the reality TV star is known everywhere.

The 98 Degrees singer opens up about his brief romance with Kim Kardashian in Details magazine’s May issue. He’s suggesting that the reality star used him to get famous back in 2006.

After his high-profile divorce from singer Jessica Simpson, Lachey dated Kardashian for about a week. When asked by Details if the paparazzi shots of one of their first dates in May 2006 signified the beginning of Kardashian’s launch to fame, Nick Lachey responded, “That’s one way to interpret it.”

He added, “Let’s just say this: We went to a movie. No one followed us there. Somehow, mysteriously, when we left, there were 30 photographers waiting outside."

Lachey, 39, recently welcomed his first child with wife Vanessa Minnillo. He went on in the Details write-up to divulged that he thinks Kanye West’s baby mama informed the paparazzi about their night out.

“There are certain ways to play this game, and some people play it well,” Lachey said. He also agreed on the perception that Kardashian’s now-infamous sex tape with Ray J helped to get the reality star noticed. His comment on the sex tape was “that was already in the can.”

It may seem like Lachey is throwing Kim Kardashian under the bus, but the 32-year-old soon-to-be mom admitted that her relationship with the boy band singer got her a lot of attention.

In her 2010 book, Kardashian Konfidential, she wrote “It started when I went out on a date with Nick Lachey. Of course the paparazzi took pictures, because people were curious about who he was with."

She further wrote, "The next night I was out with Paris Hilton. We were in her car and the paparazzi started taking pictures. Usually they would shout, 'Paris! Paris! Paris!' [But] they started yelling 'Kim! Kim! Kim!' I wanted to hide, and Paris and I just looked at each other and laughed. She said, 'Whatever you do, just smile.' I thought, this is so weird, I don't know what’s going on. It was surreal."

Taking it from his experience, Nick Lachey has advised the boy bands of today not to date Taylor Swift. He said that she may write a hit song about them if the relationship doesn’t work out and it won’t be good for their careers.
