Rong makes downtempo electronic music that is "sometimes dark and sultry, sometimes light and beautiful, always unique and eccentric," reads her press statement and the music proves to be deliciously addictive.

The title "Violently Silently," describes Rong's genre-bending sound, which the artist explains is "subtly vulnerable and introverted, yet extremely emotionally powerful and brutal."

After listening to a preview stream of Fifi Rong's upcoming EP Violently Silently, which really should be heard in its entirety, I can see why she is gaining such a loyal cult following.

The poppy "Once" brightens the set with low-tuned rhythms under an accessible melody that's undercut when Fifi admiits she has a heart of steel  "Slow Poison" is infectious and seductive. "Since When"  is structured symphonically, changing rhythimic attacts to match a darkening mood and changed plans, The drums are exhuberant on this one,

The sonic atmosphere that the set with, "Outro," makes the collection more than just mesmerizing, it is mind bending. You can feel the tendrils of an almost psychic entreaty welcoming the listener into her cosmic consciousness. It is the temporal anomaly promised in "Since When," it appear dirge-like, moving a snail's pace, but the rhythmically complexity creates a mantra. She could be a guru of a spiritual movement of sonic hybridization.

There aren't as many found sounds on "Violently Silently." Fifi's describestthis as the "most deliberate expression yet of her trademark hybrid sound, taking the listener on a journey into her remarkable soundworld. The EP forms a cohesive body of work, showcasing her artistic prowess and the depth of thought which goes into her composition, with each song relating to the others."

"The same set of sound elements were sampled, crafted and re-sampled to demonstrate a set of songs that people would conventionally consider to cross several genres," Rong explainedt.

"The first track, 'Intro', is a premix of the second, 'Once', which includes a sampled preview of both 'Slow Poison' and 'Since When' (tracks 3 and 4). The EP is then rounded off by 'Outro', which itself is a remix of the penultimate track," details the statement..

"If you somehow haven't heard Fifi Rong and you truly love music both conventionally done well yet exceptionally unique, then you need to check her out straight away," said the music and production company Mishka NYC, in a glowing endorsement.

The EP represents the continued refinement of Fifi's distinctive style, which has been praised by the likes of Fortitude, Clash, Fader and The 405, and was described by Through The Wire as 'jaw dropping downtempo electronic music'.

For her show at The Garage, Rong promises an electric evening that will aptly display the pure emotional intimacy, mesmerizing vocals and nuanced flair of her Chinese heritage that fans have come to expect.

'Violently Silently' is a release which both delivers and challenges, going one step further in refining Fifi's distinctive sonic vision and creative palette, and transporting listeners into her very own universe.

"Violently Silently" presents the continued refinement of her sound.  Fifi takes genre-bending very seriously. She is exploring the possibilities of hybrid electronica. Fifi incorporates a wide range of genres such as Electronica, Jazz, Dub, Hip Hop and Pop into her production.

Fifi collaborated with Phaeleh, Skepta, Tricky and Boris Blank/Yello, as well as film maker Paris Seawell, culminating in writing, recording, and producing the 'Violently Silently' EP herself, before being mixed by Lee Slater, who has previously worked with the likes of Roots Manuva, Roll Deep and M.I.A.
