'Thor 3' 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: Valkyrie Will Be Introduced In Thor: Ragnarok; Thor 3 Rumored To Star Female Villain

'Thor 3' 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: Last month it was announced that Valkyrie will be introduced in Thor: Ragnarok, now there are reports that Thor 3 will star a female villain.

The Thor franchise has already featured superheroines like Jane Foster, Darcy, Sif, and Frigga but the villains have been male. Loki went up against the God of Thunder and the Avengers. Malekith stalked the Aether in Thor: The Dark World.

No female character has served as the main hero or main villain of any Marvel Studios feature film. 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp will headline a female superhero. The only female villain so far onscreen is Karen Gillan's Nebula from Guardians. Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, is only a half villain.

There is no word yet on who this villain will be in Thor: Ragnarok's threequel, but there are a few important female character from Marvel Comics lore who could be a thorn in Thor Odinson's side. The Lainey Gossip blog names Cate Blanchett as a possibility.

Thor: Ragnarok will bring back Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian Avenger. He will be joined by Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who is probably known by his less bulky name, Hulk.

92-year-old American comic book writer Stan Lee spilled from details on the new Thor movie in his blog "TheRealStanLee."

"The Valkyrie has been around since the 70s and is a key character in Thor mythos. The Asgardian was selected by Odin to be the leader of the Valkyrior, a group of warrior goddesses who were originally responsible for delivering dying warriors to Valhalla," Stan Lee wrote.

"In the comics Valkyrie, a.k.a. Brunnhilde, is one of Thor's allies on Asgard, but her exact role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not yet been revealed."

Kevin Feige promised that Thor: Ragnarok is "a very important movie for us in Phase 3...we plan on taking Thor to another level."

''Thor: Ragnarok'" also released info on Loki, the Asgardian God of Mischief. Hiddleston said he hasn't gotten a call from Marvel Studios for two years which looks like Loki might not appear in the third installment. Though Franchise Herald reported that Loki may put in a cameo.

Marvel Studios has not made a statement regarding Loki's appearance in the movie.

'Thor: Ragnarok' is set to be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
