The Charm Of The "Asian Face"? K-pop Ladies In The Spotlight For Unique "Gentleman" Girl Look

When news was released that Psy had chosen Brown Eyed Girl Gain for his "Gentleman" music video there was a lot of talk about the choice.  According to the singer, she was chosen for her "Asian face."

"Oppa said that he wanted someone with an Asian face that didn't have double eyelids," Gain told Yonhap News in an interview earlier this month.

According to Psy, the uniquely Asian look is attractive to westerners and has a lot of appeal worldwide.

Stereotypes aside, it is true that Gain in one of the hottest Korean celebrities, brimming with confidence and sex appeal, and that is what made her ideal for the "Gentleman" video.

But the Brown Eyed Girl is not the only celebrity now making headlines for having the perfect "Asian face."

Wonder Girl Sohee attracts fans with her cute charm and singing ability. She may be young at only 20, but she has a lot of achievements under her belt.

She has acted in addition to her music career with the Wonder Girls and was featured on fellow label mates 2PM's hit single "Hands Up" in which she reportedly helped producer Jin Young Park (JYP) come up with the melody.

On stage, Sohee is considered the chic Wonder Girl who engages fans with her fierce eyes and is praised by her group members for her charm and positive attitude.

Another celebrity who has that uniquely Asian look is actress Park Bo-young. She rose to widespread fame after appearing in the successful 2008 film Speedy Scandal and her role as a spunky teenage mom won her several Best New Actress awards.

Park Bo-young has also appeared in many music videos (although it is unclear if she, like Gain, was chosen for her "Asian face") including Beast's "Fiction" and Fly to the Sky's 2007 video for "Still Pretty Today." This year Bo-young also appeared in two videos for the all male sub-unit of Coed School, SPEED.

Popular actress and hallyu star, Han Hyo Joo also possesses that Asian look that seems to be gaining attention as of late. At only 26, Han Hyo Joo has been heralded for her acting abilities and on-screen beauty. She was initially discovered as a contestant in a teenage beauty contest in 2003.

Her popular cinderella-story TV drama Brilliant Legacy co-starring Lee Seung Gi was a massive hit with a peak viewership of over 47 percent. After the show's conclusion, Han Hyo Joo saw an inpouring of endorsement deals and media requests and her popularity spread across Asia.

A new actress on the scene, Kim Go-eun, has been receiving a lot of attention since her breakout role in A Muse last year, not just for her incredible acting talent, but also for her beauty and confidence.

Director Jung Ji-woo described the 21-year-old star as "naturally curious and brave." And while there are only two full-length films to her credit, she swept the awards season in 2012 winning seven different Best New Actress Awards.

Director Jung, describing how the young actress matured during the filming of A Muse, said that Go-eun "showed off qualities that can only be found in someone who is aware of her own beauty and what she is capable of."

Other Korean celebs who have made it in the spotlight recently for their Asian appearances are actresses Baek Jin Hee and Kim Min Hee, Olympic figure skater Kim Yuna, and veteran supermodel Jang Yoon Joo.

These ladies are undoubtedly gorgeous, but is it because of their "Asian faces" or because of the personal charm and talent they each possess?
