"Dirty Dancing" TV remake get the "Little Miss Sunshine" actress to star in it.

The "Dirty Dancing" movie is an iconic film that many movie junkies will be familiar with. If the title is hard to recall then perhaps the dancing chemistry made popular by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey is easier to remember.

While their performance may be hard to surpass, it looks like the long awaited movie remake will be happening. There were rumors about a remake happening a few years back but it never actually became a reality until the recent news. According to Mashable, the television network ABC has a greenlight on the "Dirty Dancing" TV Remake with "Scream Queens'" Abigail Breslin as Baby.

The "Dirty Dancing" TV Remake will reportedly be true to the original and will be set in the 1960s, it will also be a three-hour musical event following the footsteps of NBC's "The Wiz" and "Sound Of Music." Guardian reported that there are no other cast members revealed except for Australian director Wayne Blair's participation in the project. 

Hopefully this remake will push through especially since the remake has been rumored to push through a number of times. Back in 2011, according to BBC, Kenny Ortega was at the director's chair for a Lionsgate film remake of "Dirty Dancing." However, this didn't happen.

It is still too early in the production to determine when the remake's release date will be set, as of now ABC has not yet announced anything apart from Breslin's participation in the "Dirty Dancing" TV remake. 

"Dirty Dancing" is a 1987 American romantic drama film that earned over $214 million worldwide and was the first film to sell more than a million copies on home video. The lead character Baby is hoping to enjoy her last summer during the peak of her youth before she joins the Peace Corps, but instead of having fun with her friends she finds herself stuck with her parents in a sleepy resort without much fun. Things take a turn for the better when she meets the resort's dance instructor Johnny and they fall in love.
