Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes have been very direct when it came to the status of their relationship. But according to a recent report, the Fifth Harmony member may have slipped about the real deal between them.

According to a report on Seventeen, Cabello hinted that she would only be very vocal about a person especially on social media if they were special enough for her.

"If there were to be tweets or pictures of us, it would be because I was with that person for a while and the relationship was really special and strong enough," the Fifth Harmony member explained to Teen Vogue.

It can be remembered that dating rumors about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello surfaced, in the first place, back in September because of their constant Twitter exchanges, social media pictures and gatecrashes of red carpet appearances and interviews of each other as told by E! Online then.

As reported by Teen Vogue, as well, the Fifth Harmony singer has been keen on keeping private about her love life now due to what she experienced when she dated Austin Mahone earlier this year.

"I've learned that I don't want to be as open or public about relationships anymore," she told the magazine. "In my first relationship, I thought I could hold on to the normalcy of just being like "Yeah, we're dating," just like if it were high school and I was telling my friends."

"But in high school, there aren't articles written everywhere when you break up and you don't have everyone in the school coming up to you and asking what happened or sharing their opinion with you," she continued. "It didn't feel like ours anymore, it felt like everybody else's."

Secret relationship or just plain platonic, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have both insisted they were merely the best of friends. During a guesting on "The Late Late Show with James Cordon," they directly said they were not dating.
