Gay Marriage Is A Lie: LGBT Activist Masha Gessen Says In Viral Video, Ultimate Goal is “Marriage Extinction”

Gay marriage is a lie, according to LGBT activist Masha Gessen, who is a lesbian, in a video that is currently going viral on YouTube.

Masha Gessen, an author and a Russian and U.S. journalist who is active in advocating for the rights of the LGBT community. Gessen is openly lesbian, believes in supporting gay marriage and was a member of the board of directors for one of Russia’s LGBT human rights organization, according to The Inquisitr.

In September 2012, Masha Gessen was appointed to be the director of the Russian Service forRadio Liberty, a US government funded broadcaster based in Prague. Writers from Forbes magazine spoke in her favor in the past, saying, “Gessen can be difficult to work with because of her penchant for taking non-negotiable moral stances…Although I often disagree with her conclusions, Gessen has always stuck me as someone of remarkable moral consistency and impeccable honesty.”

On May 19, 2012 when Ms. Gessen appeared at the Sydney Writer’s Festival on a panel titled, “Why Get Married When You Can Be Happy?” The YouTube video where she spoke her mind about gay marriage and marriage in general, has gone viral.

She proclaims that gay marriage is a lie and received rousing applause from the LGBT audience:

“Gay marriage is a lie. Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we’re going to do with marriage when we get there. It’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist. … ‘Marriage equality’ becomes ‘marriage elasticity,’ with the ultimate goal of ‘marriage extinction.’ ”

Masha Gessen then went on to say that her kids have five parents and she doesn’t see why it should be an issue for her kids to have such number of parents.

“I have three kids who have five parents, more or less, and I don’t see why they shouldn’t have five parents legally… I met my new partner, and she had just had a baby, and that baby’s biological father is my brother, and my daughter’s biological father is a man who lives in Russia, and my adopted son also considers him his father. So the five parents break down into two groups of three… And really, I would like to live in a legal system that is capable of reflecting that reality, and I don’t think that’s compatible with the institution of marriage.”
