Josh Charles Will Not Return To 'The Good Wife' Season 7 And Cary Is Not Gay [SPOILERS]

With "The Good Wife" going on hiatus after Eli reveals the voicemail left by Will to Alicia, spoilers have surfaced on what many fans are curious about.

During an interview with TVLine, "The Good Wife" co-creator Robert King discussed the reason for bringing back a sub-plot that has been dormant for many seasons.

"It reopens a wound," said King.  "The death of a loved one never really goes away. We all have a 'sliding doors' fantasy of life. If we could just go back and choose the left path instead of the right, everything would be different: Will would be alive, Alicia would be living a happy and passionate life with him, and everything would be great. The regrets are probably magical and fantastical, but that doesn't make them any less painful."

Sadly, spoilers fonrim this does not mean that a flashback or cameo featuring the departed Josh Charles will occur in Season 7. And what does this mean for the emerging relationship between Alicia and Jason?

"It will throw a monkey wrench into their attraction," added King. "Alicia knows it's not fair, but she has been hurt by love and passion. It tends to make one gun shy. Jason, for his part, likes things to be uncomplicated; and Alicia's life is anything but that."

In addition, spoilers confirmed that the recently ignited theory of Cary batting for the other team, is in fact not true. King revealed that the small exchange where Cary was hit on by a male co-worked was just that, an exchange.

"We liked how Cary was out of step in trying to get in touch with the newest generation coming into the law firm," King explained. "He wanted to belong and he wanted them to feel like they belonged. And of course it's misinterpreted by the young associate as a come-on."
