'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Update: "Mr. Robot" season 1 ended with Whiterose, played by B.D. Wong, a party being thrown by E Corp. CEO Philip Price (Michael Cristofer) after the credits rolled. But Whiterose looked very different from the person Elliot (Rami Malek) met in a previous episode.

B.D. Wong's Whiterose appeared to be a man until Mr. Robot Season 1 episode 8 turned out to be a transgender. Series creator Sam Esmail is bringing the character back.

"He was so amazing in the first season, I would be stupid not to use him more this season," Esmail told reporters at the Television Critics Association Press Tour.

"He's got such a great mystery around him."

"What Sam is starting is some kind of an exploration of an even deeper understanding of that identity," B.D. Wong told Vulture magazine.

"There is some reason why Whiterose is the creature that she is. There is a reason none of us yet know. Sam probably does. And that reason would have to do with the understanding of self-identity, or someone else's perception of someone's identity."

Grace Gummer will be joining Mr. Robot season 2 as a series regular. Gummer will play the role of FBI field agent Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, who is investigating the Evil Corp Hack masterminded by Elliot (Rami Malek).

Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep and sister of Manhattan's Mamie Gummer.

Gummer recently wrapped production on "Confirmation" for HBO Films. She also starred as Nora Ephron in Amazon's newsroom pilot "Good Girls Revolt."

Gummer's previous credits include American Horror Story, Extant, and The Newsroom. Season 2 of Mr. Robot is expected to premiere this summer.

"Mr. Robot" star Rami Malek opened up about Grace Gummer joining the cast of the USA show.

"I can't tell you much about her, but I do know her previously," Malik told Access Hollywood. "So, we've just been texting one another and looking forward to working with each other "Grace Gummer is such a really wonderful spirit. She's just fun to be around and very professional."

"Mr. Robot" season 2 airs in the summer.
