Who are Your Favorite Korean-American K-Pop Idols? 'Girls' Generation-2PM-KARA'

It seems to be a new trend in K-pop to have at least one American born member in the group. I personally have a soft spot for all the idols out there who packed up and moved to Korea to chase after their dreams so today we're going to take a look at some of our favorite American born singers.

Girls' Generation's Jessica and Tiffany were just two Californians before they debuted with what would become one of the most popular girl groups ever to be birthed in Korea. Both Tiffany and Jessica were born in San Francisco, ironically the same hospital, and ended up graduating from the same high school in Seoul.

2PM's Taecyeon and Nichkhun are the two resident English speaking members in their group. Though rapper Taec was born in South Korea, his family picked up and moved to Bedford, Massachusetts when he was 10-years-old. Nichkhun was born in Rancho Cucamonga, try saying that 10 times fast, California but moved to Thailand at the age of 2. He eventually moved back and attended high school in CA.

U-KISS Eli and Kevin come from opposite sides of the states. Eli was born on the East Coast in Washington, D.C. and spent a better half of his life in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Kevin was born and raised in Danville, California until the age of 15 when he left to pursue a career music.

Nicole of girl group KARA was born in Los Angeles, California and attended elementary and middle school in Glendale, California. When she first made the move to Korea, Nicole suffered from culture shock but soon adjusted to the Korean ways of life. Her mother packed up and joined Nicole in Korea where she opened up a popular BBQ restaurant.

"Welcome" singer Jay Park was born and raised in Edmonds, Washington where he became a pivotal figure in the breakdancing community. He auditioned for JYP Entertainment back in 2004 and a year later moved to Korea to pursue his dreams. Park has been very vocal on sharing his experiences as an American trying to adjust to life in Korea. The R&B singer said he cried everyday for the first two weeks of arriving in Korea but decided to stick it out to the end. I think it's safe to say he's adjusted quite well on his own.

Born in Denver, Colorado, rookie Ailee made a statement when she came out on a music show and sang the hell out of Beyonce's "Halo." Raised in my neck of the woods in New Jersey, the soulful singer began her career in 2010 and has done nothing but dominate music charts and win the hearts of fans everywhere. What can I say? It's her East Coast swag that's got Korea in frenzy.

Aziatix is the only group in K-pop where all three members reign from the states. Jay "Flowsik" Park was born and raised in Flushing, Queens, NY and has been rapping since the age of 15. Member Eddie Shin is from Boston, Massachusetts and attended NYU Tisch where he studied music. Crooner Nicky Lee was born in South Korea but was raised in Los Angeles, CA. The group was recently signed to Cash Money Records.
