Decoding The Mood Behind The 'TRBL' Rebel Named DEAN

Soothing vocals. Good looks. Outstanding talent. R&B singer DEAN managed to attract local and international attention with his musical abilities. With the successful release of his debut album mood 130 : TRBL last month, KpopStarz got the exclusive information decoding the mystery behind the EP and the songs by the Rebel singer.

For some, 'TRBL' might be just an ordinary album telling a story about love, but the concept of the album, along with the packaging, goes beyond.

Receiving exclusive details from DEAN's team, we learned that 'TRBL' is an album that uses the metaphors of "crush" and "hit" when it comes to the feelings of falling in love and breaking up. When physically looking at the album and listening to the tracks, the whole package carries the concept similar to police investigations with the use of siren, polaroids, lyric cards and more. If turned upside down or listened to from last to first, the songs talk about the different stages of love.

However, there's more to than just the front and back album covers. Fans are encouraged to open the album's booklet to get the whole "crime scene experience."

"Each song is written so the more you listen, the more you discover about the story," Joombas Music Group said. "If you simply look at the lyrics, they tell the common tragedy of a man whose love for a woman leads to her death. But the song 'Bonnie & Clyde' starts with the lyrics, 'Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again,' encouraging us to listen again. And again. And again, uncovering a myriad of nuances with each rewind.

Dean has created something stunning, and there is more to come. He intends to make 130 Mood a series of albums, and if this is the first, one can only imagine what more Dean has to offer the music scene."

DEAN's Team reached out to KpopStarz and gave us the break down on the analysis of the new tracks off TRBL for fans to enjoy and analyze the crime investigation-themed concept of the album.

Check out the meaning behind the new tracks below!

어때? (outro)
1.     The sound of the police knocking on the door was used to
give the listeners the visualization through sounds of a man
sitting on a sofa flipping through TV channels.
2.     The lyric 'I can tell this feeling is mothermother f***ing
good right now...' was used in order for the listeners to decide
whether or not he has fallen in love again or is still struggling
with his previous love.
3.     The rewind noise from the TV lets the listeners to know that
the album is in reverse order.
4.     Inside the album, the lyric card artwork has a gun and a
broken glass hinting at a possible murder case.

Bonnie & Clyde
1.     The song starts off with "Your call cannot be completed as
dialed. Please check the number and dial again." During this
scene in the music video, you can see that Dean is talking on the
phone regardless of the number's existence.  This part was mixed
in a way for the listeners to get the feeling of talking on a phone.
2.     If you simply look at the lyrics only, the man is just friends
with the girl but she makes things difficult for the man and he
ends up murdering her.
3.     However, just as the message said in the beginning, the
listeners can "dial" (listen) again with a different approach.  If
you relate the song to the storyline of the album, you can clearly
see that he is talking to himself and is just imagining these
things.  In his imagination, he is filled with regret for all the
things he was not able to do for his girl and ends up killing
himself as a result of these thoughts.
4.     Towards the end of this song, DEAN added the sound of
people muttering in order to create a feeling of mental chaos.

D (half moon)

1.     The title 'D' was given because it looks like a half of a
moon.
2.     Once again, this song is related to and based on a story in a
room.
3.     Afterwards, 'D (half moon)' turns into a song about sex (I
love it). In many urban hip-hop songs, the expression "till cops
come knocking" is often used to emphasize how intimate their
affair is or will be.  This song was written in order to continue
the flow of a love story.

21

1.   In the 2nd verse, it talks about a heart that is closed off, but
someone keeps knocking.  The sound of someone knocking on a
door comes out throughout the album. Every knock symbolizes
different meanings, and it is intended for the listener to have fun
figuring out the true meaning of each knock.
2.     This song artwork can be explained in the following way.
In the picture, you can see James Dean's car '130 Little Bastard'
crushed due to a major accident that eventually led to his death.
This picture of James Dean's car has the double meaning of him
having a crush on someone.
