The fans of Katy Perry have been waiting for the release of her new album which is anticipated to be released in 2016. As per the latest news, the fans might have to wait for a little longer for Perry to come up with her fifth studio album.

Perry is still supporting her previous album ''Prism'' which was released in 2013. Digital Spy came up with a detailed update about the process which Perry follows for the release of her albums. "Although Katy Perry is still supporting her Prism album across the globe, her manager has confirmed that the pop superstar's fourth full-length is not too far off - as in, it could be here in eight months," Billboard had reported in May 2015.

It is expected since the fourth quarter is favorable for sales and people splurge during the Christmas and New Year times, the album might be released then. The article also reported, ''The fact that Katy Perry has registered brand new song titles since the release of Prism in 2013 means she has been working on a least some fresh music.'' This is a good news for the fans of Perry.

The recent news of her boyfriend Orlando Bloom cozying up with Selena Gomez also might be one of the reasons why we didn't hear much from Perry these days. Going by the fact that Perry is very sensitive and her divorce with actor Russell Brand whom she married on Oct. 23, 2010, had left her at the verge of suicide, it seems Perry is taking things with utmost caution this time. 

"I'm in the research and development phase," Perry had clarified earlier. "I've been going at it for eight or nine years in the spotlight, and then before that there's that decade of hustle that never gets recognised but still shows up in your wrinkles'' she added further.

Since fans know that Perry takes typically about three years to release each album, the time has come up for her to release one in 2016. "So right now I'm taking a little time. I don't want to jump on any trends. I just need to evolve'' she added further.
