Kristen Wiig Returns to SNL As Host For The First Time

This past Saturday, May 11th, former Saturday Night Live performer, Kristen Wiig, came back to host for the first time after almost a full year of leaving her SNL home.

Known for a variety of hilarious and beloved characters, Kristen Wiig delighted fans by transforming into the Target Lady, The Californians, and even the zany singers, Garth and Kat, who returned to the SNL line-up once more.

Let's not forget the SNL audience-favorite conniving Gilly, and the always hilariously awkward Eunice on "The Lawrence Welk Show."

However, Saturday's episode was not just an array of resurrected characters for Ms. Wiig - the cast and writing staff brought many original sketches, leaving the audience in stitches, including a spoof on 1-800-Flowers and Mother's Day, where the talented Katie McKinnon plays a mother that is way worse than your mother.

While some thought it was too soon for Wiig to grace the stage, none can deny the hilariousness that ensued, from the moment Wiig started her monologue to her role as an Asian water ghost in the new hit Disney Show, "Aw Nuts: Mom's a Ghost!"

In "Aw Nuts: Mom's a Ghost!" Wiig plays the mother-turned-water ghost after drowning in Korea during a business trip, opposite two rambunctious children played by Bobby Moynihan and Cecily Strong. And yes, hilariousness ensues.

Wiig began her SNL career on the 31st season of SNL and was a cast member on SNL for seven seasons from 2005 to 2012. In 2011, Wiig co-wrote and starred in the 2011 comedy film, "Bridesmaids." She will be staring in the upcoming animated films "Despicable Me 2" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2."

Kristen Wiig was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on SNL in 2009 through 2012 and was featured in "Entertainment Weekly's" 25 Funniest Women in Hollywood.
