‘Woman with a Suitcase’ ends its series with a better rating; Some important details are missing
MBC drama “Woman with a Suitcase” ended its 16-episode series with a higher rating after live shooting. However there are some important details which are missing from the drama which puzzled the audience.
Legal drama “Woman with a Suitcase” ended its series airing two episodes back-to-back on Nov. 15. The final episode began with prosecutor Choi visiting Park Hye-Joo to demand an explanation about the missing page in the forensic examination document. Park took out the document and burned it.
Geum-Joo continued her work as an attorney. This time she defended homeless boy Kyung-Hwan in relation to Bok-Geo case. She won the trial and celebrated the winning with her clients.
The drama ended with the meeting between Book-Geo and Geum-Joo discussing their future plan. However, the ending between them was not crafted properly which made the ending to be very dry.
However, due to MBC's sudden decision to air the two episode back-to-back, the casts and crews of the production company CJ & EM was still shooting the drama on the day of its airing. This limited the time required to edit the drama, which resulted to some important details being missing. One of the bizzare scenes is when Bok-Geo, as a convict was able to walk freely in the hospital outside the prison without handcuff.
The sudden decision by MBC to air two final episodes in one day is assumed to avoid prolonged competition with another drama, particularly with the most anticipated SBS drama “Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim,” which has drawn huge viewers attention.
According to Yonhap News Agency, ”Woman with a Suitcase” was successfully secured highest rating with 10 percent in the final episodes. But “Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim” Episode 4 scored even much bigger, with more than 13 percent viewership rating and almost 2 million of viewers in Korea watched the new drama. MBC realized the situation, so they pushed to air the final episode one week earlier.
