Ratings of ‘Sweet Stranger and Me’ continue to plunge as Episode 9 becomes more bizarre
KBS' drama “Sweet Stranger and Me” continues to experience further decline in its already-low ratings. The drama made a sudden twist in Episode 9 with the love story between Na-Ri and Nan-Gil.
“Sweet Stranger and Me” Episode 9 follows the story from last week's episode. Na-Ri and Nan-Gil decided to date and openly admitted their feelings toward one another. Episode 9 re-enacted the kissing scene between them. This time, the kissing was done inside the house.
Uncle Jung-Nam suddenly came as they were kissing and he yelled at them. He said that he already filed a motion to annull Nan-Gil’s marriage to Na-Ri’s mother. Uncle told him to take the house and the land, as long as he left Na-Ri alone.
Nan-Gil replied that he would not leave the house. He also pointed the fact that his uncle Jung-Nam had seen Na-Ri’s father shortly before the latter died. Uncle Jung-Nam was speechless as his effort to chase off Nan-Gil had become futile.
The ratings for “Sweet Stranger and Me” Episode 9, aired on November 21, continued to plummet, as reported by DongA News. The KBS drama faced a fierce competition from SBS' “Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim,” which won the race, followed by MBC's new drama “Night Light.”
“Sweet Stranger and Me” tumbled by another 1% in Episode 9 according to Munhwa News, to the lowest point at 3.7% in AGB Nielsen Korea. Meanwhile in TnMS, the drama scored just 5.1%.
Episode 10, aired the next day, generated mixed results in ratings. It improved by 0.2% in AGB Nielsen, but descended further to 0.7% in TnMS. One of the reasons behind viewers' declining interest towards the drama is the uncomfortable love story as Nan-Gil, who married Na-Ri’s mother, is now suddenly in a relationship with Na-Ri. Such bizarre story unlikely received good viewership from audiences, considering that KBS is widely seen as a conservative TV station.
