Second week’s episodes of ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo’ ends with surprise for Bok-Joo

MBC's drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” Episode 4 ends with a surprise for the heroine Bok-Joo, as she finds out the identity of her nutritionist. The drama's ratings have slightly increased.

Bok-Joo was mesmerized by a handsome man who lent her an umbrella back in “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” Episode 3, aired on November 23. She then tried to find out about the his identity and the man, Jae-Yi, is actually a nutritionist who operates his own clinic. Book-Jo tried to make an appointment with him in his clinic to join the weight reduction program.

However, she was surprised to find out the fee is KRW 590,000 (USD 590). Susequently, she checked her savings, but she only had KRW 395,000 won in her savings account. She remembered that she just bought her uncle an expensive birthday gift.

As she was thinking hard to seek for more money, her father suddenly gave her allowance money in Episode 4. With the money her father gave her, she could now enroll in the weight reduction program monitored by Jae-Yi.

After attending the program for some time, she had a big surprise at the end of Episode 4 - she finds out that Jae-Yi is the elder brother of her friend, Joon-Hyung. She was quite surprised by that.

MBC released still images of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo,” which depicting the relationship between Bok-Joo, Jae-Yi and Jun-Hyung.

Other still images showed another possible love triangle between Jun-Hyung, Bok-Joo and her room mate Shi-Ho.

The audience in Korea loves the unique story, as the second week of airing improved its viewership rating by 1.1%, according to Seoul Daily News. The ratings in AGB Nielsen Korea increased to 4.4% in Episode 3, and 4.6% in the next episode, while in TnMS ratings, the show had an average of 4.85% for this week’s two episodes.

Unfortunately, “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” is still unable to break through to the Top 20 lists of either AGB Nielsen and TnMS. It has very strong competitors in the form of SBS' “Legend of the Blue Sea” for Wednesday and Thursday night drama, and the new MBC drama “Night Light.”
