The 21^st Asian Television Awards was broadcast live from Singapore's Suntec Convention Hall on 2 December 2016, available to more than 500 million households across Asia Pacific through online, mobile, pay TV and free-to-air platforms.

The recipient for one of the key award for this event - "Award for Outstanding Contribution to Asian Television" is Mr Ko Dae-young, President and CEO of Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), which has remained as the most influential and creative media organisation in Korea. In 2015, KBS has exported US$91.5 million-worth of content abroad, including the hugely popular "Descendants of the Sun" drama series, which won the "Best Drama Series" in this year's Asian Television Awards (ATA).

While the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2016 was taking place live in Hong Kong, the representative was in Singapore, receiving the award for winner of "Best Entertainment (One-off/Annual). Using its slogan "Music Makes One", Mnet thanked and announced that the award goes out to all the K-pop fans who have supported the program since it started in 1999. Incidentally, the winner for 2016 MAMA's Best Asian Artist SINGAPORE, JJ Lin was one of the performers in ATA 2016.

Amber Liu, of popular K-pop girl group FX, was also in town to perform 2 songs at ATA 2016. Dressed in her usual boyish attire, she pranced and hopped with 4 female dancers, to the beat of "Shake that Brass", the title track from her debut solo EP, Beautiful. After that, she switched to the slower-paced "Borders" a song that was released in March 2016, as a part of SM Station project. Amber had participated in composing, lyrics writing and arrangement of the song which detailed her childhood experiences and provided a positive message on not giving oneself up against life's difficulties.

The spunky rapper and singer was game enough to attend a short 'Twitter Blueroom session" after the awards ceremony, where she tried to answer questions posted by fans on her twitter account (@llama_ajol). She was clearly amazed with modern technology and fumbled around with the gadget that could screen-capture her answer and post immediately onto her twitter account. Although there were many questions, Amber can only chose to answer only a few within the limited time frame.
