Actor Son Jin-Chang sues Tesla for damage to his Los Angeles house
The famous singer and actor in the 1990’s Son Jin-Chang sued Tesla for damage to his house in Los Angeles. He claimed that his Model X suddenly accelerated and hit his living room.
Son file a class action lawsuit against Tesla for damage to his house claimed his Model X made a sudden unintended acceleration and crashed into his living room on Sept. 10 according to Korea Times. He was reportedly injured during the accident. As he made a complaint to Tesla, the company refused to compensate his request because car log recorded that he pressed the accelerator pedal during the accident.
The 46-year old posted the photo to his Facebook account showing the situation post-incident that occurred in his house in Orange County, California
The lawsuit was filed Saturday, Dec. 30 at the U.S. District Court in California. In the lawsuit, his attorney also citen ten owner of Tesla Model X who filed complaints for sudden unintended acceleration (SUA) when they parked the car and slowly pressed the accelerator pedal as reported by Orange County Register. With only 16,000 Model X sold, the number is quite high.
Tesla is known for products which has not undegone proper testing that caused many accidents. In May, its auto-pilot failed to work properly in Model S and killed a driver in Ohio last May, followed by a crash in Florida few months later. Prior to that incident, there are many reports about Tesla car which caught fire due to faulty battery. In 2014, a weird accident similar to Son’s occured in Tesla factory and store facility in Fremont, when a Tesla Model S that suddenly accelerated and slammed Tesla signpost in front of the factory.
The case of sudden unintended acceleration filed against carmaker happened in 2010 when owners of Toyota SUV and pickup filed a class action lawsuit. The carmaker ended up to pay $1.6 billion to settle the lawsuit in 2013.
