Definitely, "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" is the medical drama of 2016 (and still pursuing 2017) as it garnered several awards at the recently concluded 2016 SBS Drama Awards.

On New Year's Eve, the top medical drama garnered not only one but eight awards on 2016 SBS Drama Awards. This includes the "New Star Award" for Kim Min Jae, "Top 10 Stars" for Seo Hyun Jin and Han Suk Kyu, "Excellence Award (Actress in Genre Drama)" for Seo Hyun Jin, and "Excellence Award (Actor in Genre Drama)" for Yoo Yeon Seok.

Aside from the five aforementioned awards, Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok's chemistry on "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" also garnered them the popularity award "Best Couple" alongside the love teams from "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" and "Legend of the Blue Sea". They also beat the other love teams as they won the "Idol Academy Award for Best Kiss" which caused the two leads to blush. In their acceptance speech for their awards, Yoo Yeon Seok even joked that seeing Seo Hyun Jin beautifully dressed that night caused him a cardiac arrest.

As if sweeping most of the awards on the genre category is not enough, "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" also garnered the most coveted award that night with Han Suk Kyu winning the "Daesang" or the "Grand Prize" award for his role as the strict yet caring Teacher Kim. According to an earlier article here on Kpop Starz, Han Suk Kyu also bagged the "Daesang" before for "Deep Rooted Tree" where he portrayed the role of King Sejong the Great.

Now that the drama is nearing its finale, it is still strong as it continuously led the nationwide television ratings in South Korea. As reported by SBS, the latest episode of "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" ranked number one for both TNmS Ratings and AGB Nielsen. Its highest recorded rating was with its Christmas episode which reached a whopping 26% on TNmS Ratings.
