6th Gaon Chart Music Awards A Success, Hottest Winners Revealed

During the 6th Gaon Chart Music Awards, it is very evident that the female K-pop stars dominated the men in the digital category. Meanwhile, the men reigned supreme in the album category. The prestigious event was held last Feb. 22 in the capital city, Seoul.

According to Korea Portal, GFriend, Mamamoo, Jang Beom, TWICE, Urban Zakapa, SISTAR, Wonder Girls, Black Pink, Lim Chang Jung, TWICE, Black Pink and Big Bang were the monthly awarded from January to December, respectively.

Meanwhile, EXO dominated everyone as the boy group won the Artist of the Year award. This just shows that EXO is still dominating in the k-pop world, despite it being labeled as a mainstream group by most non-Korean fans.

Surely, EXO is still hailed as the face of the K-pop industry no matter what. The recent award that they won just proves it. According to All Kpop, the boy band's "EX'ACT" had sold over 500,000 copies, while "Lotto" had garnered more than 200,000 in sales. It just shows has popular the boy group is.

Meanwhile, BTS winning the Artist of the Year award for the Fourth Quarter is made possible thanks to "WINGS". Meanwhile, Bang Si Hyuk won the Producer of the Year award.

This shows that he got what it takes to compete effectively in the K-pop movie industry, by getting to incorporate several genres and creative ideas to his productions. EXO then again won the Artist of Fan Choice - Group, a proof that they have the biggest fan base in the industry.

Meanwhile, Sehun is the winner for the Artist of Fan Choice - Individual category. Then there is NCT 127 and Black Pink who reigned victorious in getting the Rookie of the Year awards, a reminder that they are on the right path and that with more hard work and perseverance, they can be more famous and popular, not only in Korea, but also throughout the rest of the world.
