Bacon Restaurant In San Francisco Closes Down For Bacon Smell; Shut Down For Other Health Violations[VIDEO]

A restaurant in San Francisco called Bacon Bacon, because it specializes in pork and bacon dishes, closes down after neighbors complained it smelled too much like (you guessed it) bacon.

Owners at Bacon Bacon prepare drinks, meals, and ice cream using bacon at the restaurant. Issues brought up by residents concern the improper disposal of waste and, of course, the bacon smell.

Neighbors insisted the offensive smell came from grease being illegally disposed of in nearby sewers. The locals said they were happy to buy Bacon Bacon owner, Jim Angus, a new air filter to change his remedy and deter the constant pig smell but Angus refused. Jim denies that claim and explains that he has tried to talk things over with the neighbors and has been trying to do so for the past year with no response.

But the smell was just one health problem at the San Francisco restaurant. Other safety issues have come up during the trial. Angelus did not have all the necessary health permits and he was parking his food truck illegally. He also needs a separate kitchen to prepare the dishes which would meet safety standards.

"We allow businesses to operate for awhile under change of ownership. But they didn't meet the deadline," director of environmental health regulatory programs Richard Lee says.

"It's frustrating. Two weeks ago, the health department showed up saying we had no permits. So we had a hearing and one person showed up saying they were opposed," the Bacon Bacon owner explained.

"They told us we had long enough to resolve these issues, and as a result, we have to cease operations May 17," he describes.

Angelus dismissed reports of illegal activity on the restaurant's Facebook page and said he "couldn't be more proud" of the bacon-y crew he works with.

"Complaining about the smell of bacon is like complaining that it's a nice day out," a Bacon Bacon supported wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Angus plans to keep operating the restaurant's food truck serving all his greasy snacks on the street.
