SNL Cast Crisis? Four Major Players Exit, Making Room for New Talent

SNL cast crisis has been forecasted for next years season, season 39 of SNL, after the loss of Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, Jason Sudeikis, and Fred Armisen.

With another season under Saturday Night Live's belt, the SNL season finale ended with four top players leaving Studio 8H for good, prompting SNL cast crisis speculation to build.

This is not a new scenario for producer Lorne Michaels. In the past 38 years, this "cast crisis" rumor has been spread multiple times, leaving Lorne with the daunting task of awing audiences with new found talent every time.

Two main seasons ended with huge losses: 1985-86 and 1994-95. However, it seems that when SNL loses many greats at once, Lorne is forced to bring in the next round of greats.

After the 1985-1986 exodus of cast members, Lorne brought in Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman and Kevin Nealon for the next season, all of whom became household names and heavy hitters for SNL.

In 1995, Lorne brought in Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, Cheri Oteri, Chris Kattan and Colin Quinn simultaneously. Will Ferrell turned out to be one of the most popular (if not the most popular) and legendary actors to ever grace the SNL stage.

Currently, SNL's remaining cast has many new heavy hitters including Taran Killam and Bobby Moynihan, both known for their hilarious characters and outlandish impressions.

Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon also have broken through with many heavy hitting characters and strong sketch premises, such as "The Girl You Wished You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party" and "1-800-Flowers Mom."

While some may be worried about the fate of next season, their fears wil subside. This exodus of strong heavy players just means a revamp of talent that all should look forward too.
