Barbara Walter’s Daughter Arrested For DUI: Police Had to Take Jacqueline Danforth To the Ground

Barbara Walters' daughter was arrested for DUI in Florida on Sunday.

Jacqueline Danforth and a male passenger were pulled over by the cops at around 1:30 in the morning, May 19, 2013 in Naples, Florida. Walters' daughter and her companion were arrested for being under the influence of alcohol while Danforth was driving.

Jacqueline Danforth, Barbara Walters' daughter, was arrested for DUI and was reportedly taken to the ground by the police because they thought that she would attempt to run into traffic. When the police officer handcuffed the male passenger, Barbara Walters' daughter struggled with the cops and she started shouting.

"I was afraid that the suspect may run into traffic on the highway, so she was taken to the ground due to her unpredictable behavior, then secured in handcuff," the arresting officer said.

According to the website of Collier County Sheriff's Office, Jackie was released from the DUI arrest after she posted a bond worth $1000.

This is actually the first infraction incurred by Barbara Walters' daughter as an adult, now 44 years old, as the arrest report says. Jackie Danforth had a chaotic childhood and she ran away from their home for a month.

Reports were saying that she had drug abuse problems during his younger years. Barbara Walters, the popular ABC Newswoman, sent her daughter to an intervention program which successfully got her clean.

Later on, Walters decided to open her own program to help other troubled girls. Walters was public about Danforth's drug abuse during her childhood. She talked about it during television interviews and chronicled it in her biography.

Jacqueline was adopted by Barbara Walters and his ex-husband Lee Guber in 1968, and the then-coupled divorced 8 years later. Representatives of Walters have not commented yet about the issue.
