LC9 Says 'Slump of Idols' an Opportunity Rather Than a Problem

LC9, the new idol group that features 6 members, was hot news even long before their debut. Heralded as the male version of Brown Eyed Girls due to the reports of their evenly superior vocals, LC9 was dubbed the 'Brown Eyed Boys' by Internet users.

LC9 stands for League of Competition, which refers to the fierce competition among idol trainees that has finally brought the six members on stage. The war-like sentiment does not end there, as their music video caused a bit of controversy with its extreme violence.

The R-rated music video features bricks flying at people's heads and blood sputtering onto the camera lens. According to the members, it took about two months of physical training to pull off the various scenes in the music video.

However difficult the trainee years were, LC9 is here now.

As for the timing of their debut? It could have been better, as the month of May features Shinhwa, 2PM, Lee Hyori, CL and many other idol groups.

LC9 is nothing but positive outlook, however.

"We look at the current slump of idols as an opportunity. It is more rewarding to trail blaze than hop on a band wagon. We want to reignite the flame of K-pop."

Fortunately, they are not just ignorantly hopeful. In fact, LC9's performance does provide something different, a breath of fresh air to our overwrought K-pop stage.

"As the name suggests, we are going to add on three more members and become a true LC9. We are planning on bringing 'new and different' with our music and performance. To be loved by the public and be unpredictable, that is our goal as artists," said J-Hyo.
