Foreign K-pop Idols, 'Who's Your Favorite Non-Korean Member?'

K-pop is filled with Koreans, but once in awhile an agency will pop in a non-Korean member into the mix, giving the group a pinch of diversity and a sprinkle of foreign fun! Let's take a look at the members who moved to Korea to pursue a dream in music and idol glory.

Amber and Victoria are the two non-Korean members of SM Entertainment's 5-membered female group, f(x). Amber is of Taiwanese descent and her parents reign from Tainan City, Taiwan. She was the only female chosen in a global audition for SM Entertainment back in 2008 and shipped herself to Korea to train for a year and a half before debuting with the group. The singer/rapper is fluent in English and quite conversational in Korean and Mandarin Chinese.

Amber's fellow member, Victoria Song or in Chinese, Song Qian, is the group's leader and Amber's other Chinese counterpart. Born in Qingdao, Shandong, Victoria studied Chinese traditional dance at the Beijing Dance Academy and majored in Chinese ethnic dance. In 2007, she was discovered by a SM scout and began a career in modeling and performing in 2007. She is fluent in Mandarin and Korean.

Jia and Fei are miss A's two Chinese born members. Fei, whose real name is Wang Feifei, is the group's lead vocalist. Born in Haikou, Hainan, China, Fei was first a part of Chinese girl group, Sisters, but made a switch over to join Miss A. She is fluent in Mandarin and Korean. Fei's dancing partner in crime, Jia, also known as Meng Jia, was born in Changsha, Hunan, China. Fei joined the group in 2007 and is fluent in Mandarin and Korean as well.

2PM's Nichkhun is of Thai-Chinese descent. Though born in America, Nichkhun lived most of his live in Thailand before moving back to the states to attend high school. The cutie-pie was discovered by JYP at the Los Angeles Korean Music Festival and soon began training with JYP Entertainment in 2006. As a part of his training years, Nichkhun was required to learn how to fluently speak Korean and Mandarin Chinese. The 2PM-er can speak Thai, Mandarin, Korean and English.

U-Kiss's former member, Alexander Lee Eusebio or Xander was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Macau. He is of Korean, Chinese, and Portuguese descent and known for speaking 7 languages which include the following: Cantonese, English, Mandarin, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. Xander was released from U-Kiss back in 2011 and has since pursued a solo career.
