Red Velvet Makes an Entrancing Comeback with Hypnotic Single, ‘Zimzalabim’

Making a strong musical comeback, K-pop quintet Red Velvet - composed of Irene, Joy, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy - dropped their latest mini-album "The ReVe Festival: Day 1" on June 19. The effort is fronted by the electronic jam, "Zimzalabim."

A magical word somewhat akin to abracadabra, "Zimzalabim" makes for a statement-making carrier track that had K-pop enthusiasts intrigued and entrancingly hooked.

Though overwhelming at first listen, the song has Red Velvet written all over it with its catchy melodies, irresistible vocal showcase, with equally hypnotic visuals and choreography to boot.

"Zimzalabim" is a track composed by the songwriting tandem of Daniel Caesar and Ludwig Lindell, which is the same duo responsible for Red Velvet's summer hit, "Red Flavor."

In a press conference, as reported by Kpop Herald, Irene pointed out that "the song encourages people to follow their dreams."

"The title track is versatile... It has EDM elements but also gets quiet at times. I think it encapsulates many of our qualities. And it becomes more enjoyable when you listen and watch our live performance together," Seulgi further explained.

The launch of the K-pop tune and the group's 10th mini album comes a month after their latest Japanese-language offering, "Sappy." It also marks as a fitting "prelude" to a series of musical activities that the talented ladies plan to hold in the coming days.

Proving to be a buzz-worthy comeback, the EP "The ReVe Festival: Day 1" has topped various local streaming sites and several iTunes charts across the world in less than a day after its release.

Apart from "Zimzalabim," it contains five more LSS-inducing tracks including "Parade," "Milkshake," "Sunny Side Up," "Bing Bing," and "LP."

Earlier this year, Red Velvet has made waves in the Western music scene with their collaborative work with Diplo and Ellie Goulding for the remix of "Close To Me."

The powerhouse K-pop outfit also embarked on a North American tour, which brought them to key areas including Texas, New Jersey, and California.

Red Velvet, one of the most popular acts signed under SM Entertainment, will celebrate their fifth anniversary in the industry this year.
