12 Year Old Denies Charge of Murdering Younger Sister

A 12-year old denies charge of killing his sister.

A boy from California, identified in court as Isaiah F. denied a second degree murder charge through his lawyer in juvenile court. The lad's attorney in court said on Wednesday that he had planned a strong defense.

The 12-year-old who denies charge of fatally stabbing his sister appeared in the court in shackles. He is seen speaking only once during the trial proceeding held in the juvenile court of Calaveras Country. He spoke only when agreeing to pursue to waive his right to have a hasty trial.

The crime allegedly done by Isaiah F. had traumatized his entire town in California. Furthermore, the case is now grabbing attention from everywhere because of the age of the accused as well as the rarity of the crime of murdering your own sister.

If the California lad gets convicted, he could be locked up in the prison for at least 11 years. Mark Reichel, one of the boy's lawyers, said that the 12-year-old denies charge against him.  "Our view of the case hasn't changed. We got in believing our client was innocent, and as we stand here, that's what we believe," Reichel stated after the hearing.

The accused boy from Valley Springs said that on April 27, an intruder had killed his sister, Leila Fowler, who was only 8 years old. After his statement, a manhunt was set off for two weeks as the police look around town a long-haired stranger who broke in the family's house. However, two weeks later, the police arrested the 12-year old boy, charged with a second-degree murder case.

A hearing is already set by Judge John E. Martin on July 31 to schedule a date for a juvenile bench trial for the 12-year old lad. The boy's mother, as well as his father and the father's fiancée all attended the hearing.
