Green Card Applicants Scammed By Woman In Queens, New York: $6000 Green Card Application Fees Lost

Green card applicants have been scammed by a Trinidadian woman in Queens, New York. At least $6,000 were taken from the green card applicants, who thought they were submitting a green card application fee.

Law enforcement authorities in the United States have charged the woman with grand larceny for scamming green card applicants for a supposed green card application fee.

The woman, who has been identified as Prabttie Maraj, is 46 years old and resides in the Richmond Hill area in Queens, New York.

According to the prosecutors of the case, there may have been even more victims who lost money and time by submitting their green card application through Maraj.

Maraj pretended to be a lawyer at her store in South Richmond Hill, and charged fees from green card applicants. Kuldip Ramkhellawan was one of the victims to this green card scam. He paid money to Maraj, thinking that he would obtain a real green card and social security number in return.

The documents that Maraj handed to Ramkhellawan were "completely fake," according to Richard Brown, the District Attorney for Queens, New York.

Kuldip Ramkhellawan found out that he had been scammed and lied to when he attempted to obtain driver's license at the New York Department of Motor Vehicles a few months ago. The inspector who checked Ramkhellawan's documents saw that his passport had fake stamps.

After this, Rammkhellawan realized that Maraj had scammed him for his green card application fee.

If Maraj is convicted for grand larceny, she will most likely face seven years in jail, according to District Attorney Richard Brown.

Green card applicants are advised to be aware of potential scammers in the area and to secure their documents through legitimate means.

Foreigners who have successfully obtained green cards are considered legal permanent residents in the United States.
