BLACKPINK Achieves another Incredible YouTube Milestone with 'Kill This Love'

YG Entertainment's world-renowned girl group BLACKPINK has yet again attained a major feat on YouTube with their 2019 hit "Kill This Love"!

BLACKPINK Reaches 1.2 Billion Views on YouTube with 'Kill This Love'

Although it has been almost two years since BLACKPINK dropped "Kill This Love," the song's music video continues to gain more viewers day by day. YG Entertainment announced via its official Twitter account that the MV for the said track has hit 1.2 billion views around 12:38 a.m. KST on Feb. 9. The agency expressed its gratitude to loyal fans of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose for helping them achieve another major milestone on YouTube.

BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love" was released in April 2019 as the lead single for the group's second extended play of the same name. As of press time, the MV for the song has 17 million likes and 2.2 million comments. This makes quartet the very first K-pop group to have three music videos with more than one billion views.

Their first music video to break this record is their 2018 hit "DDU-DU DDU-DU," which currently has over 1.4 billion views on YouTube. This MV is also the first K-pop group MV to attain its current YouTube views. The second MV is their debut song "BOOMBAYAH," which just recently obtained 1.1 billion views, becoming the first K-pop debut MV to do so.

In addition to this, BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love" is now the fastest K-pop group music video to reach 1.2 billion views. The track was dropped on April 5, 2019 at midnight KST, which means it took around one year, 10 months, and four days to achieve the YouTube milestone. The quartet beat their personal record with "DDU-DU DDU-DU", which took more than two years to hit that YouTube views.

Previous YouTube Records of BLACKPINK with "Kill This Love"

Previously, YG Entertainment's girl group attained a few YouTube records with "Kill This Love." On Nov. 29, 2020, the music video for the song reached 1.1 billion views, becoming the fastest K-pop group MV to reach the feat and the group's second MV to do so.

It only took one year, seven months, four days, 22 hours, and 56 minutes for "Kill This Love" to hit the said YouTube views. Therefore, it beats the group's previous record for the quickest MV of a Korean group to achieve the milestone, which was held by "DDU-DU DDU-DU" after reaching 1.1 billion views in one year, nine months, eight days, and 18 hours.

Moreover, the MV for BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love" becomes the quartet's third music video to hit 850 million views, following "DDU-DU DDU" and "BOOMBAYAH," and their second MV to obtain 950 million views after "DDU-DU DDU-DU."

Furthermore, "Kill This Love" was initially the fastest Korean group MV to reach 500 million views until BTS launched "Dynamite" on Oct. 19, 2020. It was also originally the music video with the highest views in the first 24 hours since its release until it was bested by BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" and then by BTS's "Dynamite."

Congratulations to BLACKPINK and BLINKs!
