MONSTA X I.M Makes His Official Solo Debut with First Mini-Album 'DUALITY'

MONSTA X member I.M has officially made his solo debut!

On Feb. 19, MONSTA X I.M has released his first solo mini-album titled "Duality." It contains a total of five songs, which are titled "God Damn," "Howlin," "Burn," "Happy to Die," and "Flower-ed." The first one serves as the title track of the mini-album.

"God Damn," which is described as a groovy hip-hop single, follows the idea of lying to oneself about being happy. MONSTA X I.M wrote the lyrics and also co-composed the song with WOOKI. An accompanying music video for the title track was also launched.

In the MV, it can be clearly seen that the song tells of a man who seemed to be lost and struggling in finding what true happiness is.

Despite the MONSTA X member facing criticism because of a sacred phrase seen in the concept photos for his first mini-album "DUALITY," his solo debut was still pushed through and many fans continued to support the artist. His agency, Starship Entertainment, has also apologized for religious insensitivity and fans were glad that the company addressed the issue immediately.

A year after he became part of Starship Entertainment's boy group MONSTA X, I.M already took on the challenge of writing his own songs. His first mixtape is titled "Who Am I?" and features Yeseo. Also in 2016, he teamed up with Brother Su for a track titled "Madeleine."

In February 2018, the "Love Killa" singer released another mixtape, "Fly With Me," which is produced by WOOKI. The lyrics of the song are about promising to fly to wherever someone is and always be by their side. A music video for the song was also shared.

The single received hot response from fans, who quickly trended the collaboration from the two artists on Twitter upon its release.
