E3 2013: Minecraft For Xbox One Announced, Features Expanded Maps, Multiplayer Options [VIDEO]

At a briefing before the E3 2013 video game conference kicked off on Monday, Minecraft was revealed to be heading to Xbox One.

Minecraft, one of Xbox Live Arcade's most popular games, is going to be released by Microsoft for its next-gen console, according to Venture Beat.

The Xbox One's Minecraft will be an updated version of the Minecraft available on the Xbox 360 now.

Phil Harrison of Microsoft promised that Xbox One's Minecraft would expand available maps and multiplayer options.

In addition to being one of the most-played titles on Xbox Live, Minecraft has very high sales numbers, prompting its release on Xbox One.

Fans of the blocky game are excited about the development. Twitter user Marc Watson called the new game edition "awesome."

Twitter user Jahova was somewhat less eloquent in expressing his or her excitement.

Those reluctant to buy the Xbox One console have a new incentive, the improved features of the Minecraft Xbox One version, as Twitter user Philip Hernandez said.

According to the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition trailer, more than six million Xbox gamers have played Minecraft on Xbox 360, making it the most successful Xbox Live Arcade title of all time, according to the Verge. More than 130 million worlds in over 66 countries have been created.

Few details about the Xbox One version of Minecraft have been released, but more information is expected to leak at the E3 2013 conference, which started on Monday and will run through June 13.
