Psy Makes Forbes Cover In Spain, Represents Korea

Psy made the front cover of world-renowned economics magazine Forbes in Spain for the month of June, becoming the first Korean artist to make the front page of Forbes.

Featuring an in-depth article titled, 'Korea, New Growth and Secret Plans,' Forbes focused on the cultural icon Psy and his tool "Gangnam Style."

Unlike many other comical photos typically portrayed of Psy, the cover displays his usual fashion but also his serious gaze, as if to suggest that he is not just the funny, unique artist we have been accustomed to.

Forbes argued that Korean pop culture has been the backbone of the country's recent economic growth. Touching upon the various stages of rapid increase in Gross Domestic Product since the devastation of the Korean Civil War in 1950, Forbes pointed out that the country's emphasis on technological development has been the driving force that has led to its current status in global economics.

About Korean pop culture, Psy, director Park Chan Wook and a number of film producers and directors were mentioned.

"Korean pop culture contents have already made it big on a global scale via YouTube. Their film industry, especially, is seeing increased global market every year."
