Dota 2 download for beta version has been available since 2011 but for those fans who could not wait for the final full version of the game, Valve recently confirmed a good news that Dota 2 release date is going to be this summer.

Gamespot reported that the second version of the free-to-play worldwide hit MMORPG game, Defense of the Ancients or Dota 2 will finally be released in Europe and North America, as told by Valve's VP of Marketing, Doug Lombardi to the game site. Dota 2 release date is set this summer of 2013.

Since September 13, 2011, Dota 2 has been in beta version and players were only able to access the game by getting the free Dota 2 download beta version. And then, there were also Dota 2 beta keys that players were able to get easily so they can take advantage of the beta version of this hit ARTS/MOBA game.

But Lombardi has finally revealed information about the Dota 2 release date. He said that the genre-defining second version of Dota will be available for free before a huge event, 'The International 3'competition, happens in August 7-11 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, as reported by GameSpot Asia. 

The Dota 2 broadcaster for the BTS Studio said, "Dota 2 being officially released to the public acts as the next step for Valve in shipping the finished Dota 2 project.While anyone interested in obtaining a beta key and playing the game could have already done so with minimal work, having the ease of play that being public brings will make it a true free-to-play game in the ARTS/MOBA genre"

Nexon, the Dota 2 download distributor of Valve in South Korea announced that it will be giving $1.7 million as prize money for the Dota 2 release in the country. The company will be releasing a starter league tournament and the winning team will be able to travel and attend The International 3 as VIP attendees. Also, the release of Dota 2 in South Korea will center on developing infrastructures for local servers. Dota 2 release date is set this fall of 2013.

Meanwhile, Dota 2 download file for the beta version is still available. Also, the Dota 2 beta keys to access the game are provided in various sites for free.
