YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk Takes Akdong Musician And Lee Hi To Disneyland

When Lee Chan Hyuk of the brother-sister act Akdong Musician said that fellow YG Entertainment artist Lee Hi was "hard to approach," the label's CEO wanted to do something to break the ice between the two promising teen acts.

So he took them to Disneyland.

YG Entertainment founder and CEO Yang Hyun Suk, who admits was having trouble getting to know both members of Akdong Musician and Lee Hi, knew that a trip to the Tokyo location of the famous theme park would be just the thing to bring the young stars closer together.

He just needed an excuse.

"Akdong Musician once said in an interview that Lee Hi would be the most 'difficult artist to befriend," the YG CEO wrote a blog post to the label's website YG-Life on Wednesday.

"For me, both Akdong Musician and Lee Hi are still a tad 'difficult', since they are the latest comers to our agency. I feel that we still need some ice-breaking to do. So using [Big Bang singer] Daesung's Japan concert as an excuse, I asked them to accompany me to Japan so that I can spend some quality time with them."

Yang said that after a day at Disney World together, the members of Akdong musician--Lee Soo Hyun who turned 14 back in May and her brother Lee Chan Hyuk, 16--had bonded with the 16-year-old Lee Hi quite well.

"On the first day of arrival [in Japan], their ice had become a lot thinner, thanks to the visit to Disneyland," Yang wrote.

"I joined them later that day for dinner."

Dining with the three promising teen stars, the YG Entertainment CEO said he was pleasantly surprised at how charming they were.

"Frankly, because Soo Hyun, our youngest (which means Lee Hi is no longer the youngest), just turned 15 and others are also just teenagers, I was worried about the generation gap," Yang recalled.

"But I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and was impressed by their bright and positive attitudes."

Last week on the Seoul Broadcasting System program "One Night Of TV" entertainment, Lee Soo Hyun admitted that Yang's assurances had a lot to do with Akdong Musician signing with YG Entertainment.

"We thought YG would be the best place to represent our music," she said.

"CEO Yang Hyun Suk said that he'd do his best to support us."

Lee Chan Hyuk agreed that Yang's company has a great reputation of communicating well with the artists in their roster.

"We chose YG because we think YG is the place where they listen to our opinions the most," he said.
