I Used to be a Chubster: 3 Male Idols who used to be Chubby

I'm a former chubster, and as someone who used to be on the meatier side of the dinner table, I always find it comforting to know that K-pop idols went through the same phase as me. Most of the idols below went through a typical chubby middle school phase and eventually shot up in height or grew into their bodies. Let's take a look at some of our favorite ex-chubby superstars!

Big Bang's T.O.P used to be B.I.G, and I mean that in the most endearing and adorable way ever. We know him now as a svelte, cool, and fit K-pop idol but back in the day T.O.P was just an ordinary chubby boy who probably loved snacks a little too much. T.O.P was an underground rapper who had big dreams of making it in the music industry. Before making his debut with Y.G. Entertainment, the rapper lost 20kg in 40 days and has managed to keep it off and more. These days you can find the Big Bang member looking like a million bucks, but back in the day he used to just be a regular chubby Joe.

Solo singer Eru used to be a hefty fellow when he resided in the states. Eru blamed his rapid weight gain on his father who said fed him constantly out of love. Eru's father, famous trot singer Tae Jin Ah, grew up in poverty and never wanted that for his son, so in order to avoid that, he fed his son incessantly. The "Black Glasses" singer decided to lose weight when he went back home to Korea and his own mother didn't recognize him. He's lost over 47kgs and now looks like a totally different person. Good for you!

SG Wannabe's Jin Ho used to be meaty before he made his mark with one of the most soulful ballad groups of all time. Before he hit it big, Jin Ho paid more attention to refining his vocals than his weight. In the end, it all proved to be well worth it. After being accepted as a trainee, Jin Ho worked hard to lose weight and debuted looking like a totally different man.
