Princess Beatrice Puts Away Her Infamous Hats To Inaugurate New School

Princess Beatrice, daughter of Britain's Prince Andrew, didn't don one of her infamous hats when she officially opened the new Trinity Academy in West Yorkshire.

Instead, Princess Beatrice dressed uncharacteristically professional, in a bright blue skirt, patterned white blouse, and navy blue blazer with matching heels.

The princess was given a 50 minute tour of the academy, in which she watched a demonstration by the Trinity Tigers cheerleading team, sat in on a science class, and watched a dressmaking session in the open-plan-art-and-design studios, The Daily Mail reports.

Beatrice battled dyslexia when she attended Upton House School in Windsor, Coworth Park School in Surrey and St. George's School in Ascot. While she was on the tour, she said: "I wish I came to a school like this."

The 24-year-old princess graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2011.

While making her speech to hundreds of students gathered in the main atrium, she accidentally ripped off the whole rail when pulling back a small curtain to reveal the plaque to mark her visit. Luckily, Princess Beatrice's reflexes were quick enough to catch the curtain before it fell to the floor.

The young princess also told the school: "I have never spoken to this many people before. It is quite amazing."

Reminiscing, the princess told the children: "Enjoy every moment of school. It is the best time."

Later that day, Beatrice visited the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and attended a luncheon and fashion show at The University of Huddersfield.

Her outfit was a far cry from what she wore to the Ascot races, which has a strict dress code including a mandatory wearing of hats. At the races, Princess Beatrice wore a black Hannah Coffin dress with an embellished neckline and a gold pillbox fascinator by Phillip Treacy, according to the U.K.'s Express.
