Ryu Shi Won's Wife Cho Soo In Recorded Him Physically Assaulting Her: Actor Used GPS To Track Her Activities

The wife of Ryu Shi Won claims she has an audio recording of the famous South Korean actor assaulting her.

The recording is reportedly one of a large number made by Ryu's wife Cho Soo In that were revealed in Seoul Central District Court on Tuesday.

"Ryu Shi Won's wife has 150 audio recordings of the conversations she had with Ryu Shi Won following their marriage," an officer of the court told the publication Jong Ang Ilbo.

"She also recorded the moment that she claimed to be assaulted. We need to review the CD carefully in order to confirm the sounds are related to the supposed assault."

The alleged CD of arguments was just one bombshell to be revealed in the high-profile divorce proceedings.

Ryu, who is also a successful singer with over a dozen albums to his credit, admitted that he had used a GPS tracking system to keep track of Jo.

"I only did it for the safety of my wife and young daughter," said the 40-year-old star.

Ryu's lawyer submitted a statement on behalf of the actor, denying he ever hit his wife.

"I've never slapped my wife's cheeks," read the actor's statement.

"And although I lashed out in rough rants, it was merely a fight with words and there was no physical violence."

The actor most recently starred in the 2012 television drama "Goodbye Dear Wife," on Channel A.

Ryu and Cho were married in 2010 and filed for divorce in 2012. The couple has a 2-year-old daughter.

In February, the actor's wife filed a complaint with police claiming Ryu verbally and physically abused her.

The two are currently suing each other after failing to reach a divorce agreement.

The next court hearing is set for July 18.

"I feel like I have not tried hard enough," Ryu said in 2012 about the divorce proceedings, according to the website Soompi.

"I am sorry to my fans because my situation has ended up this way. I honestly don't really have anything else to say. My position has not changed. For me, my family and daughter are everything. I will try my best to protect the family."

"Things might not go the way I want them to, but I think as a parent I need to show my daughter that I am trying to protect the family," the actor added.

"Whatever my daughter ends up hearing, even if it is not the truth, I think that it would become pain for her. As a person, there are many things that I want to say but I believe I need to save my words for my daughter."
