JYP, YG, and SM Close to Creative Collaboration, but No Cigar

Kpop Stars Judges may disagree often, they may fight, and they may own different companies, but many fans are asking for more creative collaboration.

In 2010 Seven of Korea’s biggest entertainment companies, YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment, Star Empire, Medialine, Ken Entertainment and Music Factory established a joint venture for a corporation limited by shares called Korea Music Power Holdings (KMP Holdings). KMP Holdings created various enterprises such as a new concept of music service, producing show programs, and digital music distribution. Still, these ideas are less creative focused and more business oriented.

Because of the size of Seoul, the entertainment industry has been able to locate themselves into one district. The central location allows them to closely collaborate, so why don't they? Many have pointed toward judges.

A lot of attention is being focused on the show now because of the different training methods of the judges . A representative of the Kpop Stars stated, “Just as the three judges have their own uniqueness, the training system of the three agencies is also very different.”

YG focuses on “One Point Lessons” where K-Pop stars work one on one with the contestants.

JYP has a Spartan lesson where he consistently worked with the contestants, and a lot of contestants and show staff are surprised at JYP’s passion.

SM has “1:1 Matched Lessons” where each contestant talks about their hardships while going through training. BoA would meet with each contestant and give them warm advice.

Should all these training methods come together the result could be one of super-stardom.
