Pokemon X And Y Pokedex Rumors: The Most Sought After New Dual-Type Combinations, And The Most Popular Types

As Nintendo prepares to launch Pokemon X and Pokemon Y October 12, fans are speculating on what new type combinations (dual-type) will be introduced this generation for its Pokedex.

"Lots and lots of Bugs would be really nice," says one Neoseeker forum contributor, FluffySk1lls.

"Bug/Ice, Bug/Psychic, Bug/Dark, Bug/Dragon, and the extremely unlikely Poison/Steel with Levitate. Other than that, a Grass/Ghost as a tree spirit or something or a Fire/Water that looks like a ticked off kettle would be awesome."

A Fire/Water Pokemon would be particularly interesting, as currently, there are no Pokemon with that type combination. It is also one of the most popularly demanded combinations.

"Bug/Dragon, Poison/Dragon, Dragon/Fighting, Fighting/Flying, Fairy/Fighting, Fairy/Dragon, Normal/Ghost, Steel/Ghost, Fairy/Steel (the ultimate dragon counter), Steel/Dragon that isn't legendary," writes Neoseeker member supergoji18.

"Get to it Game Freak!"

As shown in this chart here, some of the most popular combinations in the Pokedex include Normal/Flying, Grass/Poison, Flying/Bug. But Pokemon with only a single type still reign supreme, which is understandable to balance the gameplay.

On the other hand, some dual-types that have yet to be used include, Fire/Poison, Electric/Dark, Grass/Dragon, Ice/Bug, Ghost/Fighting, amongst others.

In total, with the 17 types currently out there, there are 136 dual-type combinations possible, 153 if you include the 17 singular types.

However, with the release of X and Y, the new Fairy-type will really shake up the Pokedex with even more possibilities.

What new dual-type do you want for Pokemon X and Y, and how do you think the fairy-type will influence the Pokemon dynamic?
