Pamela Knox, the 60-year-old victim of the Toledo sinkhole, shared her story regarding the unfortunate event. Click on Detroit reported that the woman was driving down the Detroit Avenue in Toledo, in July 3, Wednesday, when "she saw a car in front of her drive over a section of pavement that seemed to be dropping."

Knox could not steer away from it and the road just gave way under her as she reached that area of the Toledo sinkhole. Knox said that what she heard was as terrifying as what she saw as the car went into the Toledo sinkhole. She said, "The sound of rocks falling all around me."

While inside the Toledo sinkhole, gushing water from a broken water pipe began to fill up the back seat of her car. With the help of the firefighters who arrived with a ladder, Knox was able to climb out of the 10-ft deep Toledo sinkhole. Once she got out, she quickly realized that she was able to escape before things got even worse. She shared, "As they were walking me away, more pavement from the street caved in on top of my car. They had gotten me out just in time."

Kenny Knox, Pamela's husband, immediately rushed to the scene while thinking he would see a car accident. However, he said that he did not see any cars, sharing, "I was looking around and I saw this huge sinkhole and I was like, I hope she's not in that hole.
