You know you've made it in the Korean music scene when you can release a track without much fanfare and topple the current chart leaders. As July continues the summer comeback craze in Korean music, Dynamic Duo opened the month with their newest track "BAAAM", and 'bam!' it did go on top of the chart with its catchy vocoder  set tunes. One thing is true from getting to know Dynamic Duo a bit better - they are not the type of guys who would push-and-pull about themselves. And it's their honest take on life and music that make their fans and new audiences enjoy the reality in their music.

In this exclusive interview, get to know the real hearts of the men behind Dynamic Duo, Choiza and Gaeko.

1: Last month you held a charity exhibition with Amoeba Culture in Seoul to raise money for disabled children. Can you tell us what that experience was like?

Choiza)
We don't get a lot of opportunities to communicate with people who enjoy our music and so this opportunity was an especially fun and special time for us.

2. Where did you find the inspiration for your newest album?

Gaeko) We were inspired by big and small events that happened in our lives. Music, movies, writings, drawings, etc. were all things that inspired us with this album.

3. What message do you want listeners to take away from your new songs?

Choiza) I hope people are able to get an honest perspective of what life is like right now in Korea through our songs.

4. Have there been any special experiences you've had while writing or recording?

Gaeko) The majority of this album was done through home recordings. When we were ready to record we wanted to make sure that our music sounded natural and not forced. So, we decided that recording in our own personal studio / workspace would be best. There are a few memories that come to mind while writing / recording this album and the first is when we were recording for the song 'hot wings' in which Hyorin from Sistar is featured. The day she came to record she had a really bad cold, but she still sounded incredible and I thought the recording was high quality. I was putting the final touches on the song when a few days later I got a call that she wanted to re-record her part of the song because she was unhappy with how she sounded. I knew that her schedule was packed and she was extremely busy, but the fact that she still wanted to re-record despite her schedule was really moving to me. I am still in awe of how passionate Hyorin was about the music. Another memory that comes to mind is when we had finished recording with Winterplay and headed over to Itaewon to eat at 'Bowling Crab.'

5. You've been friends for a long time. How have each of you changed over the years?

Choiza) When we first met, our personalities and hobbies were very different, but with time I've come to notice that we've become more and more alike haha. In the past it was difficult for us to both be on the same page, but now I think we've learned to work really well together- almost like a dual core cpu.

6. Your previous albums have featured a lot of other artists, can fans expect some collaborations on the new album as well?

Gaeko) First off, Amoeba Culture artists have been a huge help. We have worked closely with artists like Supreme Team, Primary, and Zion.T for a while now and understand each other well and so I'm really pleased with how those tracks turned out. Artist, Crush, the newest member to the label and also up and coming R&B artist was really fun to work with as well. He's so passionate about his music and so I think we had a great synergy together. Collaborating with Winterplay, Sistar's Hyorin, and Jung Jae-Il was also really cool.

7. Is there a singer/rapper you haven't worked with yet but would like to?

Choiza) I'd love to work with Kanye West. Throughout his career he's always raised the standard for hip-hop music.

8. You each did a song for the Amoeba Culture NOWorkend Project. How do those singles differ from your work together?

Gaeko) When we work together, finding common ground always took a lot of time. We would need to schedule a lot of meetings, but also spend a lot of time just together enjoying music and working on new stuff. But on the otherhand, when I work alone, I have to manage the entire process of creating the music on my own. I experienced a lot more pressure than I had originally thought, but I also liked that I was able to really focus on my own personal sound and style. Regardless, I think working together or alone both has its fun and difficult sides.

9. Many Korean artists are trying to break in to the US market. Is that a goal you guys have in the future?

Choiza) Right now I think the best way to break into the US market is going about it like how Psy did. He was able to do it very naturally. Since our album has just come out, I think we need to first wait and see how our American fans respond haha.

10. What do you think is unique about Korean hip-hop (and your music in particular) that is different from rap music in America?

Gaeko) I just think the biggest difference is that the rap is in Korean and I don't think there's a specific Korean style of hip-hop that differs from the States. I believe that simply through the language difference, Korean hip-hop stands out and is unique especially through the way in which stories are shared through the lyrics.

For us, we always make sure that our music is made naturally and that none of it sounds artificial.

11. English is becoming more and more prominent in Korean songs these days, have you thought about releasing an English-language single?

Choiza) We use English in some parts of our lyrics, but I don't know if we'll ever make a song that's completely in English. I think us rapping in Korean is actually one of the reasons that make us unique and stand out.

12. What has been the most embarrassing thing that has happened while you were performing?

Gaeko) There was a time where someone in the crowd pulled my leg hairs and then another time when someone untied my shoelaces. Actually there's a lot of embarrassing moments, but I've chosen to think of them as fun memories.

13. If you had the chance to perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Choiza) I would love to perform in Brazil during the World Cup! Strongly hoping for this to become a reality!

14. What do you think of Psy?

Gaeko) I'm so proud and think it's really cool. I also think Psy is an extremely wise person and was well prepared for all that happened.

15. Do you have a message for your fans?

Choiza) I just want to say that we're very very thankful to everyone who supports our music! We plan on continuing to work hard at what we do so please stay tuned! Thank you again for all your support and love!!
