Editor's Pick: Rocket Powered Fists And Dancing In The Dirt, The Jaw Dropping New Video For 'Don't Mess With Me' By 2EYES [VIDEO]

"Don't Mess With Me," the debut single released last month by newly formed girl group 2EYES is a solid dance song.

With a beat that kicks and vocals that have more attitude than any K-pop girl group has been able to muster since 4Minute sneered their way through "What's Your Name," the song proves that they are an artist worth taking note of.

The original video for "Don't Mess With Me," like the song itself, is competently directed and confirms they are a band with considerable promise.

But with the new action-thriller alternate video for "Don't Mess With Me," released by 2EYES this week, the band has clearly taken things to the next level.

With scene after jaw-dropping scene 2EYES members Lee Hyang Sook, Kim Hye Rin, Lee Da Som, Jung Da Eun, and Kim Yeon Jun show that they have what it takes to be major players in the world of K-pop.

Some highlights?

Ah, how about a rocket powered fist? In the clever bit of sci-fi meets samurai action, amidst of scenes with martial arts fighting, Kim Hye Rin shoots her hand like a missile, with the explosive flames to match (as shown above).

And on the other end of the special effects spectrum, a major highlight of the new "Don't Mess With Me" video is a simple but surprisingly affecting sequence that features the five members of 2EYES are dancing on muddy mountain road.

There is a fog rolling in behind the girls.

The shot is jarring because although any K-pop fan is familiar with the choreographed dance scenes in practically every music video, it is rare that they take place in a natural setting like in this shot, instead getting filmed almost exclusively on soundstages and sets.

Where Psy's most iconic shot in the "Gentleman" was dancing over the Mapo Bridge, for 2EYES, the most powerful shot is this rarely seen way of shooting a dance video, in a natural, raw, non-manicured surrounding.

Yes, there are videos like SECRET's idyllic "Yoo Hoo," where the band members do their moves on the beach, but in "Don't Mess With Me" the raw backdrop for the dance sequence creates a mood that is something much darker.

Now that 2EYES has stepped up their visuals, there is one main area they could improve; their beats are rock solid but they would do well to move away from the ultra-digital style of audio production.

They need to lose the Autotune and get a producer who understands that the real dance floor classic need a little less perfection and a little more grit.
