South Korean television director Kim Jong Hak has been barred from leaving the country on account of charges he is facing that he embezzled money and refused to pay money he owed to the cast and crew of the program "Faith."

Kim, who was called "one of the most acclaimed and influential TV directors in Korea for more than 30 years" by Variety Magazine back in 2009, is facing a major lawsuit from several of the employees of the "Faith" program, according to the website Soompi.

The director was reportedly in China filming a new drama for Chinese television, when South Korean police summoned him back to the country on account of the "Faith" lawsuit.

"Producing director Kim Jong Hak has been faced with a lawsuit for not paying the cast members, along with embezzlement," a Yeongdeungpo Police official explained.

"Since the investigation is taking some time, he has been banned from traveling abroad."

Kim was accused of mishandling funds for the $10 million television production "Faith" back in February. The show airs on the Seoul Broadcasting System.

The lawsuit is not the first time Kim has been sued for his action surrounding the "Faith" television show.

Last year, a lawsuit was filed against the director for signing duplicate publishing contracts for the show's soundtrack.

"Faith" is romantic action drama focusing on a romance between Goryeo Dynasty warrior Choi Young , played by Lee Min Ho and present day doctor Eun Soo, played by Kim Hee Sun.

The couple travels through time to be together.

A year ago, KPopstarz sister publication KDramastars spent some time on the "Faith" set with Kim and the cast, where the mood was jovial.

"Let's all work hard together and create a great drama," Kim Jong Hak told his cast. "'Faith' fighting!"

"I'll do my best for audiences to love the drama and have it remaining in their hearts," Lee Min Ho replied.

"I'm working hard as a meaning of gratitude to be able to work with such wonderful actors and producers," Kim Hee Sun chimed in.

"It would be great if we filmed without any accidents until the final day."

Perhaps their checks hadn't stopped arriving yet.
