Robin Thicke ‘Blurred Lines’ Unrated Video: Hit Song With Explicit Video Leads Billboard Hot 100 For 5th Consecutive Week, Breaking Records In Other Charts

Robin Thicke’s song “Blurred Lines” has withstood all the criticism hurled at its lyrics and the controversy didn’t seem to affect its widespread popularity. The single continues to enjoy the top position in the Billboard top 100 chart released for the week of 22 June 2013, according to Billboard.com

This would be the fifth consecutive week of Lines’ supremacy in the popularity chart besides climbing to the top position on Radio Songs and On-Demand songs charts. It has already set records on its sales as well.

The most sought after song of the year features T.I and Pharrell. “Blurred Lines” was recently subjected to criticisms that its lyrics are “rapey” and the song “misogynistic”.But none of it could shake its reach as the song conquered the minds of millions of people of US, UK and Canada.

“Blurred Lines” has also set a new record of sales with more than 400,000 downloads in the Digital Songs chart for a period of three consecutive weeks. The greatness of this record is evident from the fact that only two songs has achieved the feat of more than 400,000 in sales for three consecutive tracking weeks.

The last song that was in this category was ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ by Goety in the year 2012. With these numbers, “Lines” crossed the two million mark in overall sales.

“Blurred Lines” popularity is across the charts as it has occupied the top positions in almost all the tracking reviews and charts. With more than 156 million audience impressions it is on the peak of Radio Songs chart and this amazing popularity could fetch it the top Air Play Gainers Honors reviewed by Nielsen. In the Pop Songs radio airplay chart, the ratings are also in favor of “Blurred Lines” and the story is no different on the On-Demand Songs chart.

There seems to be no competition to “Blurred Lines” on the Hot R&B Hip-Hop Songs as it has been enjoying the no.1 position for over six weeks now.

It is important to note that the no. 2 song on the Hot 100 list that lost to “Lines” is “Get Lucky” and it also features Robin Thicke’s partner Pharrell. It could not sustain the popularity for the last two weeks whereas “Blurred Lines” kept on surpassing its reach by phenomenal numbers.
